"Cory"
Cory “Curby”
Dickens received his first tattoo at 28 and while he was getting worked
on, he was immediately taken by the art form. During the small talk
with the artist, he found out what he was going to need to do to get an
apprenticeship and learn the art. In 2004, Cory moved from the small
town he was living in to Portland Oregon and began his apprenticeship at
Captain Jack’s Tattoo, leaving his wife behind. After spending a year
there, he moved back to Klamath Falls and began working at Steel
Sensation Body Modifications. He worked there for two years before
coming to the conclusion that he had progressed as far as he could as an
artist, so he and his wife decided it was time to leave. Since his
wife, Brenda, had family in Florida they ended up moving across country
to the Sunshine State. Shortly after arriving, Cory began looking for
work along the Treasure Coast and was lucky enough to get picked up by
South Florida Tattoo.
